'CHASING LIGHT'

For those who know the basics of controlling their camera in manual mode.

Upcoming workshops:

- Saturdays, Thursdays or Mondays by request. Minimum 3 people, just call or email for info

This workshop will start in my home as we talk about the light and how to use it.   You will learn the difference between the subtle and the strong, how to see it and how to use it. We will talk about what flatters, what hides.  Importantly we will work to better understand your light meter so that you are able to make the most of the light.  We will be working in Manual Mode only, some specific lighting situations we will discuss are:

-Backlighting and sun bursts.

-Open shade and why its your best friend.

-The pros and cons of shooting in bright sunlight.

We will go outside to put our skills to work in the wonderful environment of Bethells Beach. Each day throws its own twist on light so the specific tricks we will practice on our walk outside will be whether dependant.  Our focus is on finding good natural light and also getting to know your light meter so you can control then different light situations.  If there is time we will finish up inside with some quick tips to help improve composition.

This is a beginner to medium class for those who already  know how to change aperture and shutter speed on their camera.

Medium to advanced photographers are welcome but keep in mind that there will be plenty of time spent making sure those closer to beginner level get the basics of camera control right.

Along with many years of photography experience I also have a diploma in teaching to so you can be comfortable knowing that the class will be well run and informative. It will be a small group so that there is plenty of time for questions  and we can spend a lot of time really hands on, having a good play.  The venue is in a very special location at Bethells beach in gorgeous barn with comfy couches. Weather permitting we will head outside into the wonderful surrounds to try out your new skills.  Afternoon or morning tea is provided with delicious snacks and tea and coffee.

Maximum of 8 people.

This is a beginner to medium class for those who already  know how to change aperture and shutter speed on their camera.

Cost is $100 and you will need your own camera with a manual setting.
